I guess maybe Alternative music isn't making much on an impact as it used to. Another noticeable change is that artists who used to be alternative, once they became pop Triple J stopped playing them (Coldplay, Eminem, Ed Sheeran (Yes) to name a coule), yet that doesn't seem to happen anymore. Would budget cuts have anything to do with it, or is it just that music tastes have changed and we care more about what appeals to the mainstream, and not the hipster/alternative crowd? Now I'm not talking about Alternative Pop acts who have hit the Mainstream like Lorde and Billie Elish (because Triple J had been playing them BEFORE they became famous), but artists like Tones and I who despite being a Triple J Unearthed artist (although it's debatable if she's actually an Industry Plant) writes music that's designed for the top 40. With how Triple J's direction has been in the last few years (with it being more pop and less alternative), is alternative music dying? The fact there's artists being played who would've never been played 10 years ago, I wonder what made the change.
